        She is depicted with the sun and the moon at her breasts; or as a young 
        woman crowned and containing within her body a landscape showing the sea, 
        the sun and the moon. She is also shown as the dark aspect of Parvati, 
        with a necklace of skulls. Her festival, Diwali (The Feast of Lamps) is 
        celebrated on the new moon of Kartik (Oct./Nov.) Items associated with 
        her are Star sapphire, pearl, cypress, opium poppy, woman, silver, myrrh, 
        and civet.

        Vedic view that there are three heavens, three earths and a fourth earth 
        which is Bhumi. She is the mother of all living things and of the planet 
        Mars. Sometimes equated with Privthi, she is associated with Vahara, the 
        boar avatar of Vishnu.
